Aside from the ‘regular’ three-hour morning and afternoon safaris, a half day safari in Ranthambore National Park is also available. A half day safari – from 6am to 12pm, or from 12pm to 6pm – is by private Jeep only (shared Jeep arrangements or Canters are not available on half day safari).
The main advantage of a half day safari in Ranthambore is free access across all zones. In contrast to the ‘regular’ three-hour safaris where you’re allocated a particular zone and limited to it, visitors on a half day safari in Ranthambore are welcome to travel anywhere they like in the park. This greatly enhances your chances of spotting a tiger (or more!) as well as other elusive inhabitants such as the leopard and sloth bear.
Another benefit of the half day safari in Ranthambore is that you have much longer to spend the park than the ‘regular’ safari, and of course, more time equals a greater opportunity of tiger sightings. Whilst six hours is rather a long time to spend in the park, being in your own private Jeep (without any other tourists to consider) you’re welcome to return to your hotel, camp or lodge whenever you like for breakfast, lunch, or a bit of a rest, returning to the park when you’re ready. And, compared to our Full Day Safari in Ranthambore which allows 12 hours access to the park, it’s quite a nice inbetweener for those who’d like to maximise their chances of a sighting without spending their full day in the park.
These benefits do come at a cost, however, with the half day safari in Ranthambore coming in at more than three times the cost of our regular Ranthambore Safari by Private Jeep. The cost of a half day safari in Ranthambhore is ₹60,000 is per trip, by private Jeep, for one to six participants. It is valid until the 30th June 2019.
The Department of Forest only permits five vehicles a day to enter on the half day safari permit, so advance booking is highly recommended.
The main advantage of a full day safari in Ranthambore is free access across all zones. In contrast to the ‘regular’ three-hour safaris where you’re allocated a particular zone and limited to it, visitors on a full day safari in Ranthambore are welcome to travel anywhere they like in the park.
